In August 2010 Troop 24 went on a three day backpacking trip near Mount Lassen. The day before starting, the troop drove up to the park, which took about four hours, and camped in a campground near the trail. The next day people woke up, ate breakfast, packed up, and drove to the trail head. From there the backpack started. Soon a trail junction was arrived at, and instead of going the way that was originally planed to, another way was taken, which was longer, though it had less elevation change. After a while, a meadow near a stream was found, where it was decided that lunch would be eaten and water would be purified. After lunch, hiking continued along the Pacific Crest Trail, which is a trail which spans across the United States all the way from Mexico to Canada. This trail was followed until another trail junction was reached, where the trail leading to the lake that would be camped at was taken. Along that trail, a tree was found that was very close to falling over, though luckily it did not fall over while the troop was near it. When the lake was reached, a campsite was found. tents were then set up and dinner cooked, which was teriyaki noodles.

The next day, the troop packed up, ate breakfast, and started hiking. Soon the tree that had been seen on the way to the lake was passed, though it had not yet fallen over. After a while a table was reached, where it was decided to eat lunch. After lunch, hiking continued until a campsite that had enough room and was close to the river was found. Once a good campsite was found setup and the cooking of dinner, which was chili, commenced. The next day people woke up early so that they could get back to the cars early enough to get back to the Bay Area in the mid-afternoon. They then packed up, ate breakfast, and started hiking. Even though there was a lot of elevation gain, the cars were arrived at fairly early, which meant that the Bay Area was reached earlier than expected.

As we ended our hike, we found snow!
