Scout Accounts

What is a Scout Account?  A scout account is simply a virtual line on a spreadsheet. Every scout automatically gets a scout account when they join Troop 24.
How is it used? Overnighter trips or other low-cost events will be automatically charged to your scout account. There’s no more need to search for cash in your pockets or not sign up for an outing because you forgot your checkbook.
When do you pay the balance?
1. You can pre-load your account by writing a check for any amount payable to Troop 24 and deposit into the tin box on the stage at every meeting.
2. If your scout account balance is less than $50, the debt collector will email you to ask for payment.
How do you pay? You can pay immediately via PayPal (see below), or by check, payable to Troop 24.
For PayPal, you can pay directly to sm.troop24@gmail.com without incurring a fee by making sure to select ‘sending to a friend.’
How else can the scout earn money for their scout account? Good question! Scouts can earn money on their own by selling wreaths which start in November. A portion of their sales go directly to their scout account. In the past, scouts have managed to earn enough money to pay for their summer camping or their yearly registration!
I keep detailed information on the payments and outings for each scout. So, if you want to see your scout’s account, just ask me at the next scout meeting or email me.
Thanks!
