Wreath sales will be here soon. Every scout is expected to sell 10 wreaths.

Scout-O

When: Sun., Oct. 8: Meet at the church at 8am.
Where: West entrance to Briones park off Bear Creek Road (map).
Details: Bay Area Scout Orienteering Championships (link). Come represent Troop 24 in this competitive event! Wear Class A to/from event, bring water, lunch, 10 essentials, good footwear, long pants (poison oak) , etc. Courses are white to orange, easiest to hardest. (There is a non-scout competition as well.)

Upcoming Events (Calendar)

  • Oct. 14-15: Webeloree Service & Camping at Camp Herms (map). Scouts are needed to help instruct and help prepare food.  Good opportunity for recruiting.
  • Oct. 21: Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). You can talk to scouts from all around the world that day at Jamboree on the Air. Radio and electricity merit badges will be offered there.
  • Oct. 21: Stemoree. Merit badge opportunities relating to STEM will be offered.
  • Oct. 21-22: JOTA Security. You can spend the night in a Marriott conference room providing security services for all of the radio equipment.
  • Oct. 28-29: Backpacking at Portola Redwoods (map).
  • Nov. 4: REI trail service. A trail service project sponsored by REI and catered by Chipotle.  If you go, you get a T-shirt and entered into a raffle for items such as backpacks or shirts.
  • Nov. 4: Scouting for food drop-off: Put bags on doorsteps of houses in the neighborhood to collect food donations.
  • Nov. 11: Veterans Day flag planting: Go to Sunset Cemetery and plant flags at the graves of fallen soldiers.  Starts at 7:45am.  There will be donuts.
  • Nov. 11: Scouting for food pick-up: Collect the bags from the previous weekend. Starts at 9:30am after the flag planting.

  • Note: Permission slips are attached to troop calendar events. If no check/cash is required, a scan of the permission slip can be emailed to permissionslip@troop24berkeley.org
  • Thanks to all parents who legibly write their scout’s name and purpose of payment on the memo. line of the check! Checks are the preferred means of payment, but we take PayPal or cash (least preferred method).
