* Boots: Sorels with felt liners, winter mountaineering

Notes on the snow camping packing list:

  • very important is to have good boots
  • snow saw is not necessary
  • tarp useful for putting gear on while you put your tent up/ for laying out wet gear in the sun to dry
  • piece of plywood useful for kneeling on outside tent, for using as a door to a snow cave, or shelf inside a snow cave, or for standing on whilst cooking to keep feet warm.
